What does it take to prove to Social Security that I am disabled?
- You need to provide medical evidence that your medical condition(s) prevent you from working. You do need to be in current treatment, and you do need the support of your treating sources. Mathis & Mathis can explain what kind of work functions you need to focus on, given your specific situation. Mathis & Mathis will obtain evidence from your treating sources and will work with your doctors to explain how your conditions affect your ability to engage in sustained, full-time work. Mathis & Mathis at times may refer clients for consultation or testing with a specialist who can best evaluate your work related mental and/or physical limitations.
Can I qualify for benefits if my disability is based solely on mental or emotional problems?
- Yes, the Social Security regulations recognize that conditions such as depression, anxiety and other health problems can cause symptoms and limitations that are very disabling. In order to establish your disability based on these conditions you do need to be in treatment, and you need the support of your doctor.
