Founded in 1985 to Help Disability Benefits Claimants
From offices in Arlington, Virginia, the advocates at Mathis & Mathis, P.C., represent disability benefits applicants throughout the DC Metro Area, Baltimore and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. For almost 25 years, our law firm has focused its practice exclusively on representing disability benefits claimants in applications for Social Security disability insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
Founded by a Former Social Security Administration Attorney
Mathis & Mathis was founded in 1985 by attorney Dallas Mathis, who began his legal career working as an attorney for the Social Security Administration from 1976 until 1985. Realizing that he identified more with disability benefits claimants, and recognizing that claimants are at a severe disadvantage when they apply for benefits without legal representation, Mr. Mathis founded our law firm in 1985.
Although Dallas Mathis retired from active practice in 2005, our current team of advocates still subscribes to his philosophy of providing personal service and assertive legal advocacy to disability benefits claimants.
A Family Business With a Welcoming Atmosphere
Mathis & Mathis is still a family business, and we treat our clients as we would want to be treated. We understand the extreme financial insecurities that result when a disability keeps someone from working and earning a wage. Our goal is to provide relief from financial fears by taking the burden of pursing the Social Security disability claims off our clients' shoulders.
How Much Does It Cost? We never charge our clients attorney fees unless we win their cases. Our fees are set by federal law, so fees are the same for every disability benefits advocate or lawyer. Learn more about our attorney fees and get answers to other questions on our FAQ page.
Our staff members work closely with each client to develop the winning evidence throughout the duration of their SSDI or SSI case. Frequent contact between our team and our clients is one of the keys to our success. Our clients are kept informed of the progress of their claim, and are ready to take the necessary next steps to build the strongest possible application or appeal.
Get More Information ∙ Schedule a Consultation
If you have questions about Social Security disability insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) — or if you have already been denied benefits — we encourage you to contact our office to schedule a completely free, no-obligation consultation with one of our team members. We understand you may have difficulty traveling due to your disability. We can make it easy for you if you can use a phone or computer.
During that first consultation, we will collect basic information about your medical conditions, your work history and any prior Social Security benefits applications. Then, we will explain how we can help you, describe the process in clearly understandable terms, and then let you decide whether or not to enlist our assistance.
